Updated June 2024

Here is a little bit about us.

Lise was born in Quebec, Canada and Jim in Middlesex, England. We’ve known each other since we met in Cairo in 1986, when our expatriate paths crossed there. We’ve spent the last 38 years living and working mostly in Africa and are now both retired in George, on the Garden Route in the Western Province of South Africa. We usually spend nine months each year in South Africa and three months in our flat in Bath, England.

We built our retirement house on a beautiful private estate with stunning views of the Outeniqua Mountains. George is the capital of the Garden Route and we feel privileged to live in the middle of a very beautiful part of the world.

Lise’s hobbies include web-surfing, reading and watching TV. We enjoy playing bridge together and eating out. Jim’s main hobby is golf. We travel quite a lot and try to visit Bath, where we were married,  once every year, usually in June. We don’t have any children together, but Jim has two daughters, Wendie and Kerri and two sons, Steve and Gary, all still living in UK. Steve has a son, our only grandson – Liam. We try to see them all when we’re over there.

We have made many friends over the years, in many different countries. Keeping in touch with them all is not an easy task, though a very pleasant one. Hopefully, this website will make it easier!
